I would like to begin by formally thanking you for this amazing award and your generosity. The Anchor Scholarship is an award that is a personal honor and a way to financially begin my future medical studies. I find this scholarship extremely important to me due to the financial struggle my family faces, living in a single parent household and battling an out-of state tuition cost. This scholarship will help me achieve my dreams and aspirations; this monetary aid will give me the ability to continue my education in hopes of becoming a dermatologist. Attending college will truly impact my personal experiences and knowledge, so that I can strengthen my resume and develop into a well-versed and dependable doctor. I choose to become a dermatologist because of my personal connection to cancer and my involvement in the organization Relay for Life. I have grown to understand true hardships and struggles of cancer, and I hope that furthering my education I can become a dermatologist and try to eliminate the most common type of cancer: skin cancer.

I am a current high school senior, graduating this May and planning to attend the University of Georgia with a major in Biological Sciences and a minor in psychology. I am currently a student athlete and a peer extremely involved within my school. I hope to continue my involvement in college, whether it is through medical clubs or student government. Establishing my future career goals, I aim to expand my aid by owning a Dermatologist private practice for family services, Moh’s Surgery, and cosmetic injections. I want to be inclusive to any age and any service, being a doctor who does not turn away patients but rather one that people are comfortable and happy seeing. My goal is to have a practice that offers Moh’s surgery so that various types of skin cancers can be treated, and cosmetic injections so that those who had cancer lesions may be able to restore a sort of aesthetic appearance after procedures. To accomplish my career plans, I hope to further my academic by obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and minoring in psychology, then furthering my education from there. Going to graduate school, I have the goal of getting a PhD and MD title.

As a military child, it is truly amazing to be able to have such a strong community and so many opportunities, I am so thankful that you saw me fit for this scholarship. The support motivates me to continue striving for excellence both academically and personally. I deeply respect the values of service, sacrifice, and leadership. This scholarship serves as a powerful reminder of the connectedness behind those who choose to serve. I am proud to be part of that tradition and will work hard to honor the confidence you have placed in me.
