I am deeply honored to accept the USS Thomas Hudner Scholarship, and I extend my upmost appreciation for the support of the Anchor Scholarship Foundation and its generous donors. This scholarship represents more than just financial assistance, it is a culmination of the hard work that my family has put in, both domestic and overseas.

Growing up in a military family has shaped my character in ways I only recently had to fully explore. Many moves, long deployments, and general uncertainty that our family faced has taught me resilience, adaptability, and responsibility. I have also learned that family is not restricted to blood alone. We’ve met many people through our journey across multiple commands, states and countries that we undoubtedly call our family. As the people who serve are brothers and sisters in arms, it only makes sense that their children would be family as well.

This scholarship not only eases the concern of my college financials, but it also shows me that there are people who see value in the journey and sacrifices made not just by service members, but also by their families. Knowing that these people trust in my potential fuels my drive to excel in my studies and to continue to be the man that my life has led me to be.
